I use specific frameworks (4E cognition, Developmental Psychology) as windows into what is embedded in a course (which is far more than it's stated content), value systems, cultural assumptions, the cultivation of characteristics and capacities that engagement in the class is designed for.

Agreed. If one has broken a law that makes them ineligible that’s on them. That doesn’t mean anyone will like it. Especially the types that believes they can do whatever they want and that the laws don’t apply to them.

That’s where the U.S. is headed; disappearing graduate students and cutting of research funding. Most researcher have more allegiance to improving humanity.

Not that these miscreants care but these students end up contributing to US society through research and subsequent employment. No one will come and those top tier researchers who are here will relocate abroad to continue their research. A reverse brain drain that will make the U.S. irrelevant.

Given the trajectory of technology the best way to save our species IS a lower, non replacement level birth rate. AI, AGI, advanced robotics and whatever results from the implementation of those technologies will remake economies and social/political systems. What will happen to those displaced?
