AAA game dev, mainly graphics, but engine, and AI/ML as well. Also AR/VR research for a while. Currently, indie author (six books), poet, game dev (TTRPG and CRPG), with interests in fashion and tech for clothing. Also, queer stuff. FFXIV.
If all these people leave NYC (as conservative media claims), then maybe it's time to move out there! Rents will be a lot more reasonable, and it's a great city!

It’s wild that the EA buyout apparently assumed AI will lower operating costs enough to justify a high debt load. Watch, somehow Musk gets involved with this.

Everyone talks about how people are playing 3D, 4d, 5d chess, why not Twister? Sexy 5D Twister!

Somewhere out there is the Shakespeare of ERPers.

Lol, when my current projects aren't done, and I realize this other project is a thing that must be made.... Eventually, at least.

I do not remember the predictive typing of Visual Studio being this bad. It's literally never right.

Ugh, going back to a basic prototype after working on something else ... what is this bizarre fiasco?

I just played Mahjong Soul to learn how to play, and then realized, it broadcast this to my friends, and it kind of looks like a particular sort of game. But it's not! AFAIK.

Meanwhile, the rules are a lot....

I want to make a game inspired by mahjong as core mechanics, but to do that, I'd learn to play mahjong again. Quite a conundrum. When really I just want a title in FFXIV.
April 5, 2025 at 1:52 AM
I was considering getting a job but with all this going on, little point looking, I suppose.
April 4, 2025 at 9:53 PM
To avoid the horrors, I'm wondering if I should learn to play Mahjong. Will this eliminate the horrors? Probably not.

Every time I open up Scrivener, Discord pops up an overlay -- would you like to stream live while you play?

No, I don't. Not from Scrivener. No one wants to see that.

Oh no, my cat has learned how light switches work.

A real thunderstorm just rolled in, so much nostalgia for Singapore.

Admittedly, the rain here is colder.

It’s sad that a concern about staying in the US or not is whether I’ll be able to play a particular game ;)

I was reading a book and thought it said zeroth order modified Bessel function of the worst kind.

Turns out it was first.
March 25, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Ugh, FFXIV is doing a patch, so now I have to work? Wth!
March 24, 2025 at 11:26 PM
And what an ending, one of the craziest Dun Scaiths. Unfortunately, no commendations! Sometimes after runs like that, people just bail fast, even after mass rezzing. Oh well!
March 22, 2025 at 10:46 PM
Woo, all jobs to 100, ending with Sage #FFXIV
March 22, 2025 at 10:45 PM
I always tell my kitty she's a good girl, but honestly, she has never shown the least interest in my books on ethics, so I'm starting to suspect she doesn't know what "good" means.
March 12, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Lol, I think I had Grummz in a hunt train last night. He kept going on about "Woke Lamat."

Seriously, this game is not the game for that.

Of course, the _game industry_ isn't the right place for Mark Kern either. He has repeatedly proved that!

Taxes are so obnoxious. In Singapore, they just basically did your taxes for you, told you what you owed. If only we had some kind of DirectFile program here in the US....
March 9, 2025 at 8:38 AM
Well, it's a small thing, but I finally found an alternative source for buying the last item I had to get from Amazon, admittedly, just a few times a year. So now, nothing comes from them anymore.

Another fun thing about my cat — whenever she jumps onto my lap she often meow-screams like she’s going YOLO.

It’s just my lap dumbass.

Ugh, I hate reading first drafts. They are always nightmares. At the same time, bad as they are, they can help clarify what the throughline is.
