I help Miss Florence with her chores, and volunteer at various shelters and charities when I am able…” his voice remained soft and gentle, not too unlike a soft breeze on a summer evening, “I promised you that I would get out more and be social and I am. I am trying.” “I know, I know you are. I’m not trying to push you, I’m just…worried. You know you’re allowed to go to parties and stuff.” “I know I am, I just have no interest in parties these days,” Aster sighed. Orion pressed gently, “It’s not the party I’m worried about, it’s getting out there and making connections with people.” Aster glanced away and bit his lip, his feet slightly shuffling in place. Orion approached Aster carefully, leaving some space between them before extending his hand. Aster did not face him. Yet he placed a free hand in Orion’s and relished the gentle squeeze of those callused fingers around his own. “Moony. We both agreed that we needed to start branching out and making friends,” Orion coaxed, “I know we’re long lived creatures…” “What is the point if I’m going to outlive them? If I’m just going to lose friends and family…I…” Aster rasped, his hand giving a slight tremble, “I know…death is a fact of life, we both have to deal with these things. I just…I just don’t think I could go through another death. Another loss.”

Speaking of Bordeaux…” Orion’s voice trailed off for a moment, finding a small patch of blue flax. He separated from Aster for a moment to pick one of the powdery blue flowers before returning to Aster to place it into the vampire’s hair with such care. Aster stopped and allowed it, tucking his ponytail back from his shoulder. “How about when we get back home, I go to the cellar and pick a wonderful red wine. Nothing too special. Maybe a nice pinot noir to go with dinner?” Aster chuckled softly, “Hm…what is for dinner?” “I picked up some mushrooms from the store the other day. I was thinking of some mushroom stew with rice or pasta to go with it.”
