Current friends are saying they have little choice between main parties so will vote Reform!!! Not Mumsnet but ordinary people I thought had decency and common sense. Buying into the lies yet again.

I’d also add it gave every racist free rein. My FIL was Polish, hence my surname. My birth name is Evans. UK family origins, I live in N Wales. Had to ring up a local breakdown company. Was asked where’s your surname from? Poland - him “you should go back there”. I was so shocked I didn’t reply!!!

Sigh. The morning the Brexit result was announced I had friends who voted for it telling me they didn’t think it would happen. They voted out because they wanted to send the Govt a message- the message of dissatisfaction with the Govt. The message they actually sent was to leave EU. Idiots ..again

I have lots of these that I bought in the 80s and still use them. That’s a great set to have. I wish I’d bought one at the time. Mine are all stored in a huge plastic baby wipes tub c. 1988 (from when my adult kids were babies)

Ooooh… I bought some Shetland handspun 4-ply in Buckie Reach Out Centre recently - and now you’ve given me an idea what to do with it! I make mostly socks so why didn’t I think of that? 🙄

I also grew up in the West Midlands - born 1957. I never remember warm Novembers. I remember bonfire night in coats hats and gloves.

I thought I couldn’t knit socks because I knitted in an odd way with extra long needles and thick wool. Then I tried. Now I knit them all the time. There’s a free tiny ‘advent’ sock pattern around. If you really want to try, try that. Very little investment in time or wool. Simple short row heels.

There is a design on thingiverse and I’ve seen that someone on Bluesky has printed and assembled it, but am having trouble finding who that was. But the link to the design is here - www.thingiverse.com/thing:4944151

Thank you for your generosity. This is a lovely pretty top - and perfect for someone like me who is larger at the moment and gradually becoming smaller. I’ve put off limiting jumpers because of that. I love the lace detail

My great uncle Hugh Jones died in Salonica on 30/09/1918. Salonica must have sounded very distant to his family in those days. Today I followed the web address and found the cemetery and his grave’s position. I may even be able to see a photo of it some day. The best the internet can be! Thank you

I’m curious….Did they ever let you pass?

Oh yes! The rampaging sheep who attack in groups when they smell fresh blood- our answer to the Scottish midge. The gnats’ll have you scratching all over and the horseflies bite through clothes and leave you with huge red lumps and blisters
