We, all of us, have to make sure we're not letting the personal and programmatic disruptions we're facing distract us from the existential danger this country, all of our foundational institutions, are facing RIGHT NOW.

The actions being taken are more than disruptive, they're seismic, & are compromising the separation of powers clauses of the Constitution, not to mention placing in jeopardy people who happened to be doing their jobs in the wrong place at the wrong time

My husband - an employee at the National Science Foundation - was fired yesterday. This is awful, and there's so much more I could share about the terrible, legally compromised, dysfunctional way it happened.

But I'm less scared about our personal future than I am for the future of this country.
