I can relate so hard. I've moved 5 times in the last five years and it's astonishing the amount of people who don't get the impact it has on every aspect of your life. It sucks.

This "rest of world" voting is particularly nuts, an outside group can now just pay off a bot farm in Bangladesh or wherever to run up the numbers and win the contest (and hosting rights for the next event, a pretty big payoff if you are a government trying to improve its international reputation).
