On a second though, it will be interesting to see how Shopify responds to all of this. A company headquartered in Canada but has far more customers in the US. Delicate situation for them.

Yeah we honestly need a Canadian version of hey.com . And it needs to be built on an open source tech stack with as little American influence as possible. Even need to make a Canadian/EU flavour of Linux. I’m sure Linus Torvalds would support it.

Yeah that’s been going through my head since yesterday. I’m downloading anything I have stored in public clouds. This would be a huge opportunity to pair up with the EU on true open source software that isn’t held hostage by corporate America. Hell I’m even worried about my Gmail account.

For sure but I just don’t see it happening unless he resorts to military tactics. It will for sure hurt us economically and hard but (from what I’ve read) the consensus seems pretty strong that there’s no appetite to merge with the US.

100% this is a cover something bigger in the works. I’ve been racking my brain trying to understand what comes after this but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough - for better or worse.

Same here! It's really nice and clean. Less clutter. Clearly less influence from the wrong actors. Feels like a great opportunity to reset my feeds and have positive and constructive dialogues. I hope it doesn't get influenced the wrong way.
