I agree! Just as you’re free to wear a jacket to protect yourself against the cold, you can wear a mask if you don’t want to get sick. Everyone gets to decide to do what’s best for their health as long as they’re not harming others.
Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

In light of Baek Sehee’s recent passing, I finally read her memoir. Her honesty is so refreshing and comforting—I can relate to so many of her fears and self-doubts. The fact that the book seems barely edited, while making the text feel disjointed at times, adds to that authenticity.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

I’ve been mulling over the idea of kairos, another way to experience time from the Greeks, specifically how rather than despairing over the passage of time, we should notice and seize moments of opportunity. A great comfort and a great read from Melissa Kirsch at the New York Times!
