This work wants to bridge the gap from monitoring #irrigation dynamics for understanding the human impacts on the water cycle to support agricultural #water management strategies. Usual scales of interest for water allocation managers and a very fine sampling (10 m) are considered.

Its exciting aim is to develop a high-resolution (1 km) satellite-based IWU data set at the European scale. To do this, the SM-based inversion approach (lnkd.in/dBmzbcr8) will be implemented operationally to estimate IWU with a short latency.
Stay tuned for updates!

Performances in reconstructing irrigation dynamics have been assessed at different scales of interest for #water allocation managers, i.e., from the consortium level to the farm and single field ones.

We applied the SM-based inversion approach (lnkd.in/d9jUtghB) for #irrigation #quantification and the TSIMAP method ( lnkd.in/dhbuabGB) for irrigation #mapping at the unprecedent sampling of 10 m.

The proposed framework merges benefits of analytical and water-balance-based approaches. More interesting, soil hydraulic parameters are calibrated using #rainfall as a target observation, more readily available than groundwater-related information.
