Throwback to 2007 when I had skills (but not yet a good camera phone). Can confirm that getting that perfect flow of milk into espresso to make a rosetta is extremely satisfying. The temptation to do this very part-time again is real.

I've never seen the real Stonehenge but I've now been to the replica Stonehenge a couple hours from Portland on the Washington side of the Columbia.

Tried something new and only slightly terrifying last night: playing guitar and singing in public for the first time ever. Had zero intention of doing this when I took up guitar a few years ago, but it's pretty fun! Glad to have a supportive open mic night here (Covers Only at Atlantis Lounge).

Got an exciting aquavit delivery this week, one I didn't know I'd ever get to try: all the way from Tasmania, making this easily the southernmost aquavit made anywhere in the world, and flavored with locally foraged botanicals that are completely new to me.

Probably this one, since I was safely over Rand by the time I might have been thinking about tattoos. Not terribly regrettable but I'm happier having it on a custom espresso tamper than on my body.

Me and @blueskybeth.bsky.social checking in from Portland!

Inflatable dogs are ok though!

I was out of town for the emergency naked bike ride, but I did make it back to Portland in time to join the animal dance party. Though in hindsight, wearing a dog costume to protest an agency commanded by Kristi Noem may have been a risky move.

Made for biking the Bridge City.

Had to do it.

This is true. Just look at our airport renovation. It was supposed to be made of glass, but they had to use all this wood because of Antifa.

Reading this post from a recently opened coffeeshop enclosed by surprisingly transparent plywood.

Cincinnati chili is the obvious answer for me, but Cincinnati chili pizza is the real winner.

(We only cooked this with the noodles on it this one time as a stunt, but without pasta it's actually a pretty great pizza topping.)

I am armed and ready.

Another heartbreaking scene from war-ravaged Portland (all the toy stores were firebombed by radical leftists).

Displaced from war-ravaged Portland, we sought refuge in the Oregon forest and survived on foraged chanterelles.

Or in map form... I hardly ever use Strava, but in hindsight I wish I'd used it for this. www.jacobgrier.com/blog/2025/10...

Driven by hunger, we risked a bike ride across the war zone to obtain provisions from our local bakery. Please pray for our safety on the journey home.

Read and endorsed! I even added a few new drinks to my repertoire from it, though recipes aren't the focus. If you're into cocktails, you'll enjoy this book.

Today is the first day of Negroni Week, which I always kick off the same way: with a pour of my infinite Negroni, a batched Negroni-ish cocktail that I've been topping off with equal parts spirit, fortified wine, and bitter liqueur for seven years now.

It's a new era in finger magic.
