Also you should add ability to post pictures!

You should release an Android version. It’s possible to do in a privacy preserving way as many comments have noted.

Thanks! You should also consider adding a comment section to this page so people can discuss.

Name still wraps on iPhone 15 Pro
July 6, 2025 at 7:29 PM
Agreed. And possible on a PWA.
July 2, 2025 at 8:55 PM
You should share details on how this is implemented so @iceblock.app can do it.
July 2, 2025 at 6:18 PM
The background location tracking / alerts isn’t really possible for a PWA.

An alternative model where you subscribe to fixed locations would work though.

The levels of incompetence are insane and irresponsible. He’s likely causing more harm than good by creating an opportunity for fake Android versions to proliferate.

It’s disappointing that the @iceblock.app dev has a severe misunderstanding of demographics and security.

Android has an estimated 70% market share in U.S. Latino communities and a 90% market share in Mexico. Claims that Android installs are less anonymous are nonsense.

Posting "why isn't this on Android", is not helpful. User anonymity is far more important than supporting multiple platforms. 54% of the country uses an iPhone.

We know people have their own ideas to make it work, but please trust that we know what we're doing to keep people safe.

Refusing to release an Android version or endorse an Android alternative is squandering the moment.

No Android = unsafe people. Android has much higher market share in U.S. among Latino community.

“why don’t you make the Android version then?”

Someone could, but @iceblock.app’s marketing from the DOJ is simply unbeatable. Not releasing an Android version is squandering the moment.

If you’re reading this dev: if you really want to make a difference, release an Android version. I’d donate.

You should make an official Android version then.

bsky.app/profile/iceb...

This post is total nonsense, you can distribute Android apps without storing device IDs. And neither the iOS or Play stores are anonymous to begin with.
Sorry, there will not be an Android version because there is no way to provide 100% anonymity. Each person's device ID would have to be stored and that information becomes discoverable should the government issue a subpoena.

Only iOS made this possible and completely protects the users.

(Coming from a pro-artist-rights place)

OpenAI did not call these particular programs “abuse”, they were responding to a more general question about data poisoning; original quote attached.

It’s important for artists know that Glaze and Nightshade DO NOT WORK. They are unfortunately snake oil.

Ah I think I know why this is happening. Remember that Bluesky is using JWT tokens for auth so it's likely that they have their access token timing as something like an hour, I haven't checked their repo out to see what they are set as but this is the most likely cause for this behaviour.

Yes. I revoked the app password and write access continued for at least 30 minutes.

I tested by liking multiple posts and my activity was reflected on Bsky.app

It just took about an hour to revoke for real!

Took a look at some of the examples, all of them require you to enter the username before you can start the OAuth flow. Wonder why.
December 3, 2024 at 8:13 PM
what does the user experience look like? Do you still have to enter the username? How does it handle multiple hosts? I'm so curious.

Or is there just a "log in with bluesky" button?
December 3, 2024 at 8:07 PM
oauth? Not app passwords?
December 3, 2024 at 8:04 PM
Also I think the gray checkbox is runs counter to the goal of having people check the domains ;)

What happens when the next president wants @POTUS on Twitter/Instagram/etc?

The account is managed by the office, not the individual.
