Think about Madueke’s CL goal. Why don’t Arsenal play with that freedom in the PL? Some of it is how the opposing defense plays. But the rigidity and pace at which Arsenal attack in the PL is so easy to see. Opposing defenses know it.

Oh, I think they can. All of Arsenal’s wingers are capable of that. I think that is exactly what I feel about attack though - why don’t they do it more? Why does no front 3 players ever seem to be in a position or willing to try that?

Definitely don’t think the league is done. But the Calafiori thing is really interesting. He should be adding to the attack not necessary to make it click. Arsenal have so many quality front players, something else needs to snap into place.

Even with a little calm breathing, not sure how anyone could have watched the last 3 PL games and not be a little worried about the last 3rd of this season.
Arteta needs to figure out a way to make this team click. The defense and midfield are struggling because the attack is just so stagnant.

The goal record, that seems really difficult. But I think he breaks the assist one. All he needs to do is average 10 a year for the rest of the contract. And he will still be under 30.

Glad to hear Slot say this. Yeah, it didn’t look good, but context is key. Heat of the game, not seeing the injury, no history of being a dirty player. Feels like a non issue, but folks want to be outraged about something.

It’s okay to feel unsettled as a fan. We have no control. I feel that way now too, but I am still completely confident. It would have felt better if we put them away and maybe it would have locked the league up. But this team is too good and too well coached for that 2nd half to not be a minor blip.

I genuinely feel like it is okay to feel this way. This game could have gone a LOT of different ways. That was an absolute garbage 2nd half and this needs to be the game they all take a long hard look at themselves.

There might always be more eye catching performances but he has been absolutely incredible. He was crazy good today.

The last few have not been easy to watch. But it is hard not to feel like if the squad gets healthy that things don’t explode for the better in the New Year. Things just look right on the cusp of leveling back to smashing teams. Let’s start with revenge against Villa in 3 days.

In isolation, not a great result from an underwhelming performance. Felt like the subs should have been more impactful, but a lot of rustiness and poor decision making.
This was likely the toughest 8 days stretch of the season. I think we take 7/9 points and move on.

I’ve always been a list maker, but I feel like it is absolutely necessary now. I have to keep track of things people suggest, what I find, things that fly by the screen. I genuinely feel if I don’t write it down I might miss out.

As a bookseller/store owner I regularly remind myself of this. Obv keeping track of buying habits is essential, but I also need to trust my own and staff’s taste. If we think something looks cool, someone else does too!

Black Bolt is my favorite Marvel character. And I think that the Inhumans are very under appreciated. The whole weirdness of their existence lends itself to all different kinds of Marvel story telling - straight up superhero, crazy sci fi, body horror.

If that’s Arteta’s line up choice, cool. A lot of people aren’t going to be happy with it.
But if that line up gives up a first half goal and basically creates nothing except shooting the ball out to the right wing, Arteta also has say “okay, here’s what we do…”.

I do not understand how he could have watched that half and felt like it was correct. If they come out with same line up, essentially saying “so far so good”, I don’t know what to think.

Third game of the season, the hardest away game of the year and Arsenal lost to an unstoppable free kick. Helluva way to lose a game. Break and go again.

Thanks for saying it just like this. I got away from the other place to avoid the maddening hot takes and was hoping that this season we would see some perspective on here. But man, people just lose their minds from the jump.
