I just realized who Pete Fairbanks reminds me of

When I comp Pete Alonso, and take era adjustments into account, three of the closer comps I find for him are Glen Davis, Cecil Fielder, and Ryan Howard. Here is what they did age 30 onward. I once posited Pete was worth 4/80. I think I was wrong

And a great defender too. Almost certainly a better player than Williams, Winfield, and Dawson. Same WAR in THOUSANDS fewer PA, and much higher WAA than all of them. Just didn't hang around till his 40's

Should be in the HOF

Maybe the Blue Jays were the best team but just unlucky?

I know ball, and I think they were roughly equal. Something I see missing in discussion is simplyLofton is credited for playing CF while Ichiro is debited for playing RF.(Position adjustment) But Lofton also further above avg vs. other CF compared to Ichiro and other RF.

Still many passed over that had as good or better consecutive 7. (I left off active pitchers and roiders)

And consecutive doesn't really mean a lot to me personally. Guys get hurt, there are strikes and stoppages. (Cone 94-95) Luis Tiant's 8.5 WAR doesn't even make it into his top 7 consecutive.

I've no problem with putting him in. I'm a big hall guy anyway. He was great. But looking just at PURE PRIME, i.e. WAR7 adj, there nearly two dozen post WW2 pitchers that rank higher. Active players or steroid guys are grayed out but provided just further for context. Click image to expand

Saw this at Costco today. Probably been around a while, but first time I noticed.
Seats are in sections 200-205 and 215-220

Mookie Betts is arguably a top 15-20 outfielder through age 31 ALL TIME: 15th in WAR, 21st in oWAR, 3rd in dWAR, 18th in Base running

He's already a Hall of Famer

Signed thru age 39, it will be interesting to see how he ages into mid-late 30's and where he ends up

I hear you, and it's an excellent point that gave me pause. I still have questions when I look at Frankie Montas Savant pages though. And digging in on everything else Savant shows us "under the hood", I'm not seeing a huge transformation.

It's our wedding anniversary. People that know me well probably often ask how my wife has put up with me for 42 years.....nobody ever asks how I put up with her. 🤔.
