So, you know about how daffodils are a sign of old house seats? Roses of sharon are the same markers. If someone planted a rose of sharon, and it looks like a roughed in foundation nearby, that is a sign that someone's house stood there a hundred years ago.

I literally had to watch a "how it works" sewing machine video for a repairman to tell us that sewing machines work the same way they did in the 1800s, confirming I'm dumber than a 19th century 5th grader. But I am able to make my bobbin on the new machine, so we're calling it a win.
