I finally made it back into the studio after a little break, it feels good to play with mud!

I surprised myself by knocking out three nice little pots, intentionally sisters but not twins. I want to experiment more with shapes and proportions specifically in this family.

You're so close, Georgie!!!! I'm excited for you to meet your goal and get a service dog! I would love to see you draw Clover, if you've got the time ♥️

It's a beautiful autumn day, and I'm grateful for the return of sweater weather.

The love of my life came to visit me in Edmonton for a month. We saw a lot of excellent live music, ate gourmet ice cream, and got engaged!

Julian went back to California yesterday, and I'm already missing it terribly. ♥️

I spent the last four days at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival with my dad, and I had a fantastic time!

I sold the best mug of the batch to a young woman who was absolutely thrilled with it. She picked it up and held it to her chest while talking to her friend about how it was her soulmate mug, her soulmug, before passing me the cash for it.

I was so happy she liked it, I hope the mug brings her joy!

I've had a lot going on so I forgot to post about it, but I was a vendor at my first ever pottery sale a couple weeks back!

I got to table with my pal Brim, which was a fun experience. I sold more pots than I expected and got to chat with a lot of cool people!

LOL. LMAO even. I tripped over my dog Clover when we were playing yesterday evening, fell badly and fractured a bone in my foot.

It might be hard to distinguish them, but these are two separate cups. They were thrown thick, and then carved into with different tools while leather-hard, an experiment with the pottery technique Kurinuki.

I love how the spearmint breaks over the texture of these cups!

Here's yesterday's green ashtray again, now pictured with its purple twin. These two pieces of pottery were commissioned by a dear friend in Illinois, and will be sent out in the mail shortly!

Rushing outside to catch a little mid-morning sunshine, here's some better pictures of the pottery I got out of the kiln yesterday!
June 24, 2025 at 3:53 PM
I need to take better photos, but please view how well my spearmint glaze turned out on these pots! Each time I use it, I'm happier with the results.

I took these photos in the back alley behind the pottery studio, in a desperate attempt to catch some sunshine on a cloudy, rainy day.

Sometimes a test tile isn't big enough, I'm taking my spearmint for a serious trial run.

Both of these pots have dandelion stroke n' coat on the inside, and spearmint on the exterior, with an apricot underglaze runner.

I have no idea how these will turn out, but we'll see!

They turned out... fine, lol, I've decided I'm happy with the base recipe!

The first line is with added cobalt carbonate, 0.05% to 0.5%, and the bottom line is 1% to 4% lithium carbonate.

It came out too grey for my tastes! Turns out I'd rather have a warm green 💚

Busy weekend in the pottery studio! I made a bunch of test tiles for my glaze experiments, trimmed and handled a good amount of mugs, and even managed to throw a few more.

I wish I had more time on the wheel, but it is what it is!

I did a big test tile (AKA old bisque ware I'd never bothered to glaze) of my 10L batch (split with a friend) of the spearmint.

It turned out nice, but the green is a little warmer than what I expected! I'm going to try adding a little cobalt carbonate to see if that suits me better (maybe 0.5%)

I had a nice run of pots come out of the kiln, and then heard a little tinkling noise coming from the shelf I placed them on... I checked for crazing and instead found one of my handles had broken!

What was once an intact pot is now going into my smash bin. The joys and the misery of pottery, haha

Testing testing testing glazes... I've just started putting what I've learned with regard to mixing glaze into practice, and I'm enjoying myself, but waiting for the kiln to fire and cool before I can see the results is going to be the end of me!
April 28, 2025 at 4:49 PM
I got to try my hand at mixing test batches of glaze at the studio.

A surprisingly enjoyable process, I'm sure I messed up my first batch but am confident the other two will be good representations of the recipes I used!

It was very tempting to drink the forbidden milkshake.... but I resisted.

Just came out of the kiln yesterday, possibly my best mug to date? I'm so pleased with the handle, and while the glazes didn't interact the way I expected, the results are gorgeous!

This is, I think, the best piece of pottery I've made so far, and it was a throw-away experiment with reclaimed clay "just to see what would happen"

Y'all wanna see some of my favorite photos of my boyfriend @nexusrasp.bsky.social and I, taken during my visit to California?
February 25, 2025 at 11:32 PM
A few pots I've made recently. I haven't spent as much time in the pottery studio as I'd like lately, but I'm trying to get back into the rhythm of things.
January 3, 2025 at 5:07 PM
I've been working away on new pots but don't have much to show for it, yet. I've been making an effort to throw things that Aren't Just Mugs, so here's a recent moon jar, trimmed and ready for the greenware shelf.

I DO make non-mug pottery, sometimes. This is a yarn bowl for a very dear friend of mine
