Did you know that if you have shares with a broker like Fidelity, Schwab, Robinhood, etc you do not legally own those shares. Doing so can negatively impact one share, one vote.

@aoc.bsky.social Did you know that if you have shares with a broker (ie Apple with Fidelity, Robinhood, etc), you do not legally own those shares? It can negatively impact shareholder democracy in addition to other types of abuse.

The US government acknowledges that shorting increases the beneficial shares and as a result all beneficial owners can't vote. Said differently 1 share does not equal 1 vote.
