As an MSU fan, the Dantonio thing is like the 30 Rock bit about trying to make it 1994 whether by science or magic. We just want it to be 2015 again and not have the scars of the scandals that have happened since then.

I guess more as a savior to the current oline. Even if he is in shape, I am skeptical he is in ready to start in a close playoff race shape. Having him is better than not, but expecting him to be at pro bowl level immediately is sketchy.

As an MSU fan, I think with Smith in particular it is the lack of progress and the way they are losing. They went 5-7 last year and it feels pretty likely they are going to finish worse this season. Make a bowl seemed like an reasonable expectation and that feels unlikely.

I worry that people at a bigger job will turn on PJ immediately because of the whole schtick. He is a better coach than Butch Jones but Tennessee fans hated that man.
