Sept is National Recovery Month.
My recovery started 01/25/15, when I chose to stop using opiates, benzos, & alcohol. I am still an addict - if I had easy access to these, I would start using again.
But it's been over 10 years, & I'm still here. I still make the choice, every day, to be sober.

Trying to explain to this ridiculous thing that she can't have any of my lemon poppyseed muffin because a) she could literally die of opium poisoning, and b) her intestines no longer work AT ALL, but she keeps pretending to fall asleep and then VAULTING over my hand as soon as I let my guard down.

And hey, it turns out there are actual biological differences, which is why it takes years to diagnose a lot of fairly common conditions that mostly AFAB folks have! Which means years of wasted money & time, more pain, and an increased chance of death.
