The printing press split the creation of ideas from the copying of them. The internet split publishing from distribution.
AI is splitting creation from the labor of making. As creation decouples from labor, value moves uphill to taste, direction, and curation & again, society will feel the shock.

They aren’t addicted to Trump… Trump is a continuation of the post-Civil Rights Act Republican spirit embodied by Goldwater, Reagan, Gingrich, and Cheney-Bush

They’ve been neo-Confederates since they consolidated the white supremacy vote (coded by states’ rights, war on drugs, welfare queens, etc)

Thanks for that link!
Really informative

I imagine the areas that are too controversial that lead historians away from truth-seeking are aptly described as the history and persistence of systematic white supremacy in the United States

The absence of a vigorous media is a good call out…
Looking for causes of a radically uneducated electorate where “get your gummint out of my Medicare” is a persistent symptom

Flickers are attracted to potential mates that make the loudest sound… why do I know this?

They’d pound on my stove pipe sounding like a jackhammer !

Made me jump out of my skin when first I heard it!

Republicans lie and behave the way they do because the media rewards that behavior.

Republicans behavior is a result of media incentives.

American authoritarianism was realized in the Jim Crow South and the Confederacy

Systematic disenfranchisement and state-condoned terror is not at all new… those make up the “good old days” of Republican fantasy

Since the Civil Rights Act, the GOP project has been “Make America Mississippi Again”

The @nytimes.com has been washing right-wing talking points into the mainstream for many years
Their focus on the emails and age coupled with their lack of focus on [insert Republican crime here] moves the needle

They know it, shown by their holding the NSA revelation until after Bush’s election
October 23, 2025 at 5:10 PM
I appreciate what you do.

The @nytimes.com has been washing right wing talking points into the mainstream for at least 25 years.

They do it so well and so consistently that it’s hard not to see that as their primary aim.

Every Republican politician is playing that role. The @nytimes.com plays that role most prominently as well normalizing Trump as the younger candidate.

The small government fetish seems to be a 150-year reaction to the post-Civil War federal government that would enforce civil rights in states that would try to deny them.
