My best friend turned 61nderful yesterday. We celebrated by attending a free concert near the coolest tree I’ve seen in a long time. “The Witches Tree” (Louisville, KY) is the subject of some fascinating lore. You should look it up.

Two days since hiking 5 miles at the West Pinnacles in Berea, Ky, (700+’ elevation change) I remain convinced flatter hikes should be my goal until I get my new knees. Pretty hike, though.

My Mom is 29 again. Her brother is 12 years younger, and he and his wife drove for two days to help her celebrate. Yup! She IS that awesome!

Today was likely my last visit with Punch and Mikki before they retire from the Louisville Zoo to the Elephant Sanctuary in TN. Thanks for the memories, ladies. Forgive me for tearing up as I spoke to you today.

“Christian Nationalism doesn’t want Jesus – it wants a weapon in a tunic.”

Forcing people to pay $130 for a passport in order to vote is just a Jim Crow poll tax by another name.

It is blatantly unconstitutional.

Had to say goodbye to my NOLA kid this morning, but we had fun doing it. The only reason I don’t cry whenever we part is that I know she is so very happy with her NOLA life.

In 2022, we decided to set a long-term goal: to hike at least one mile in each state in the US. Knee pain slowed me down last year, but we’re back at it. These are the 1st 14 states.

State # 16 in our quest to hike in each one: Arkansas. We chose to hike at Crater of Diamonds State Park so we could dig for diamonds first. No diamonds for us, but we had a great time.

Burned quite a few calories on the Peewah Trail in Trail of Tears State Park, MO. So naturally, we abandoned all health plans and gobbled down a couple of burgers and an over-the-top milkshake at Kenny’s Flippin Burgers, Cape Girardeau, after.
