I just signed up here today and saw @melissawiley.bsky.social post this, so thank you for a very good start! I almost bought a kunekune pig a couple months ago (I’d worked out details with the farmer and then I had to tell my husband and that was the end lol). And now I am thinking about it again.
ok so what happened was.
in 2018, California passed prop 12, which required that pigs, chickens, and cattle all get a certain amount of space to move around. the chicken and cattle industries complied. the pork industry, however, was like "no we need to cram the pigs in cages" and sued to stop it.
