Elizabeth Gilbert said "...the most relaxed person in the room is the one who holds all the power" and wow, that lands.

Finding surrender and letting go of control as a (recovering) Type A, overachieving, overthinking eldest daughter can be so UNCOMFORTABLE.

Feeling like a website rewrite and service overhaul is coming soon...

Creating reels, crafting posts and writing captions may not seem that deep but helping someone express themselves and get the word about their work is so satisfying.

Absolutely adore this book! I think about and reference her fear coming along but not driving the car analogy often.

What I'm noticing:

- my phone has a massive magnetic pull, I have to actively fight to banish it for those 2 hours
- most of these moments of pause are first thing in the morning (before the kids are up and the day really begins) *I'd like to try building some during my day as well

1) phone free for the first and last hour of the day
2) at least 15 minutes of totally input-free time each day (no other people, no podcasts, no music, no goals, just being)
3) morning tarot/oracle card pull
4) morning breathwork (at least 5 min)

If you are actively trying to fight the background frequency of chaos, pressure and burnout, what works for you to make the time to slow down? to pause? to rest?

A few things I'm trying right now:

Plus our brains are SO good at throwing excuses our way when it comes to doing things we know will help us slow down: "too busy," "maybe later," "after I finish this"

(Mine loves: "I don't have time right now" ...followed by scrolling for 30 minutes on social media... 🙄)

But it's true. Slowing down, pausing, resting, in a world that's constantly saying go faster, work harder, do more, doesn't happen without real intention.

Bodies in motion like to stay in motion and all that.

right?! I finished Iron Flame in a marathon day of reading and I think this one is about the same length. Cannot wait to see the wild twists and turns RY takes us on. And then dissect it all with all the other fans (the @fantasyfangirlspod.bsky.social discord is AMAZING for this.)
