My cat, Peanut, has taken to drowning her toys. This morning I took a red pom pom out of her toy box. Tonight this is what her water dish looked like.
From now on, I will either give her natural toys or check each toy for colorfastness before I let her put it into her mouth.

Escape from the Aliens in Outer Space was the first game I ever played at a board game meetup. So, it’s a bit surreal to see Rock Hard: 1977 nipping at its heels on the BGG hotness.

Hanging with the finalists at the Rock Hard: 1977 championship at the World Series of Board Gaming. They were real rock stars, starting the game around 11 PM. Justin (lower left), the winner, even made it to the awards presentation at 8 AM. Congrats to them all.

Hi, Bluesky! Did I ever mention that I love #boardgames and #cats? Though TBH, it is a bit hard to start up a board game when the cat is using your gaming table as a cat bed and she looks so happy.

Some more art for you to enjoy. Evelyn de Morgan is one of the few notable Pre-Raphaelites who was a woman. Of all her works, this one, The Love Potion, speaks to me. Is she a sorceress? Just a smart woman helping others find love? Either way, she has a black kitty!

Rock Hard: 1977 won the Dice Tower award for Best Theming 2024. The only thing better than getting to accept in person is having @sirjoshwood.bsky.social read your acceptance speech. Hope I get to be in the audience when he inevitably wins one!

Judith Slaying Holofernes by Artemesia Gentileschi. Gentileschi was an early 17th c. Roman painter who was raped by a fellow artist. Gentileschi painted two versions of the biblical story of Judith, a Jew who seduced and killed the Syrian general Holofernes to save her people. This is the 2nd.
