I think you're trying to be diplomatic about the situation while showing TT developers some grace. You're not entirely correct on the backend work being different.
The other guy seems legitimately concerned about the lack of control over content and personal security.
Both can be realities.

I think its hard to say considering America is its own propaganda machine. Everyone wants to see their own world as the center of the universe. This is fine, as long as people realise its their universe. Americans speaking to actual people in countries like China a is going to change things.
