Gorgeous sky last night, saw the #NorthernLights for the first time in a long time. And such colors! Incredible.

Cystybits (more like whole cysts, like the picture from the loading screen) from #TheOuterWorlds2 (using Babish's Master Fried Chicken recipe). They turned out just fine and thank goodness, because the Boarst Rockets were a disaster.

Here is the setup to my degenerative, book-cipher-enhanced encryption: 1) x-y-z for book cipher meaning "page, line, word (first letter of the word)"; first line is the red key letter, next line is the letter that indicates how many places & direction you'll rotate the red wheel. (26/32)
June 14, 2025 at 6:28 PM
If I write "208-14-1", I'm saying "page 208, line 14, word #1". Looking at your copy of Neal Stephenson's "Cryptonomicon" (softcover), you'll see that the word is "No" and starts with the capital letter "N" so this is your red wheel key letter. (24/32)

If you're familiar with Criptoquip puzzles (a popular staple of newspaper puzzles back in the day), this is basically the same thing. It's not a shift cipher because Mark and the team at Crunchlabs have essentially "scrambled" the connections between the top and bottom plates. (2/32)

I've been following along with @crunchlabs.bsky.social (site at www.crunchlabs.com) and I'm woefully behind, but did pick up this build out of order Because Cryptography! It's a cool #CrunchLabs build kit that lets you build & use a pretty snazzy gadget for cipher encryption. (1/32)

Back to the project of reproducing the credit tokens from #Silo (thanks @tested.com for activating my crow brain when you visited the set; you had me at "they go 'clink'!"). (1/4)

I am creeping up on my #Silo tokens. I'm almost there. I still also need to model the 10 cr and 2 cr tokens, but I'm hoping () that those will go faster once I get these ones nailed down. (These are, of course, pre-paint.)

Messing around with #Blender to model the credits in the TV series #Silo - the numbers aren't quite right here (I fixed them in the model that is, as I type, printing up on my Saturn) and I haven't sculpted in any wear, but I intend to use this as an excuse to teach myself pewter casting. (1/3)

Gurl, help, I made myself a thirst trap in #Avowed

(In another life he's a Vicar. Should have made him a priest but wasn't thinking about it at the time. OTOH he has a bow named, and I am not making this up, "The Long Touch")

Gods bless @obsidianent.bsky.social

#Resonite #CreatorJam #MMC25 it's almost time...

It occurs to me that if there are sheep in the #Silo to serve as a source of wool (there's got to be flax also, for linen, right?), then there have to be "tali" or "knucklebones", which people would use as a game (like jacks), to gamble, or to cast lots.

Progress on the Nixie Tube clock in #Resonite - I got the art files set up, plus some other meshes that for now, are procedural, but of which I will eventually make a baked copy. Right now, the numbers are being driven by the seconds of UTC time.
November 30, 2024 at 4:04 PM
I am working on texture maps to build into a new clock for #Resonite - this will make use of Nixie tubes, for an imo satisfying intersection of digital and analog. (The fathometer on the ships I served in used Nixie tubes, and I have always loved them.)
November 27, 2024 at 2:28 PM
Here's the first clock I made: an old analog clock that rings a ship's bell to mark the passing of the watch. Those of you familiar with how color is rendered will recognize this video as being from Resonite's predecessor, but the clock graces the wall of my beautiful Cloud Home. #Resonite

So looking forward to #CreatorJam on #Resonite this weekend -- it's been ages (I've been so busy, I haven't been able to jump inWorld for months). There will be SO MUCH RUST to knock off, but it'll be great. @creatorjam.bsky.social is the BEST

cults3d.com/en/3d-printi... - my Skyrim Soul Gem holder, printed on an @elegoo.bsky.social Saturn 4 Ultra, using KAGR3NAC's 3D file, but I cast the gems in transparent resin (with glow in the dark mica powder) as a separate process.

Vicar Max from #TheOuterWorlds (or as close as I could get), printed with my @elegoo.bsky.social Saturn 4 Ultra, from an STL created on @heroforgeminis.bsky.social; the Hero Forge face options are pretty amazing!
