This may be the best example of someone becoming "too self-important to fail." With "journalists" like Bari and TCW, they eventually reach a certain point where they can publish whatever drivel comes to mind and insist that the rest of the world has gone mad when they call them out on their bullshit

He's a data analyst from Berkeley, he's as far from a politico as you could possibly get

I think Mara's just too reluctant — for whatever reason — to rip the band-aid off completely and it always leaves them worse off for it. The Bears were plagued by this and are only (seemingly) bucking the trend by sheer luck with Ben Johnson wanting to coach for them

Reactionary centrists don't believe in anything except staking out the "higher ground." They're really just unserious assholes who treat politics like it's debate team and not something that imperils and impacts millions of people every day

I would've guessed an old fashioned, on the rocks

Even though this is essentially their strategy, it'd ironically be less infuriating if they actually believed in what they're doing. Instead, they're just hopelessly shovelling money at whichever consulting group strokes their head and tells them they're doing great

As a (former) big Marvel nerd, sure let’s just chalk it up to that 😅

Is it fair to wonder if he's not a lock for an extension? Penalties are one thing but if he's giving up on plays, that has to drive the coaches ballistic

I think Ben recognizes that polite society is not going to forget about this when Trump is gone and he wants to (try to) cover his ass. Just when you think he couldn't be a more craven and pathetic asshole, he feels compelled to remind you there's always a lower bar

I think you can extend that to blocking in general. It looks like it's been pretty ugly aside from, ironically, that pick

They believe in zero-sum politics. They were always going to fight this tooth and nail but after Tuesday, they're even more motivated out of spite

The silver lining is they're playing themselves out of the bye for the 1 seed

Is Goff rushing his throws because of the offensive line, Flores' scheme or both? Timing has been consistently off all day and it seems like it's 60% OL, 30% Flores, 10% Goff

It's hard to understate how many people are either genuinely horrified by the raids or are just put off by them because they're not "normal." If you genuinely believe "voters" will see this only through an immigration lens, you are either completely out of touch or morally bankrupt — or both

The pattern here is personalism. Trump views the federal treasury as a discretionary fund for dispensing patronage and largesse; he regards the White House as his private property; he regards DOJ as (literally) his personal lawyers, & the military & law enforcement as his personal security team.
