i think WfM was an excellent story about a protagonist who had to discover her own agency, but holy shit the Machu/Kamille archetype of "something is wrong and this robot will let me fix it," the seizing of power, is really inspiring

i watched Beginning but man seeing Machu run down the Zaku's arm and make that (very literal) leap of faith is so profound

lots of stuff to play with here. though i've talked to other people and the problem of "a lot of the off-meta spells just stink" is probably contributing a lot more to the inability to specialize than most of the other pain points

lotta people complained about not being able to specialize. well, here you go! you're especially good at targeting one save and bad at the other ones. probably taking these is bad, so maybe you could have them be +1 to one DC and -1 to only one other

another idea that i had myself, because somebody thought that the above should also buff class DC (which is quite frankly insane): cycle of 3 invested rings or signets or something that buff one DC (from will, fortitude, reflex) and nerf the others by +/-1.

e.g. spell attack runes! buff your spell attack like weapon potency runes, gotta put them on. idk a focus or something. a staff? dunno

to me it was "wow ok so if i take my accumulated tomino experience i can interpolate about 30 episodes worth of plot to make this make sense." but also man are the animation and the suits themselves gorgeous, and seabook goes on to be really just a great character

or maybe POSIX is homebrew on top of the C standard's limited rules set? i dunno

but the rules are just totally nonsensical to modern tastes and sensibilities even if they have their internal logic (thanks, ANSI, i guess)
