My work ran a voluntary exit scheme to reduce headcount without redundancies. Terms were really good & I worked out I'd get nearly 2 year's take home pay (mostly tax free). More than enough to take an extended break to work on writing projects. Then they rejected me for being too valuable, go figure

It also just seems so unimaginative to be trying to 'bring back' anything at all. Why can they not be thinking about much more interesting things like horse sized mice? Or mice sized horses?

Convince a gecko it should have wings like a bat, and be the size of a blue whale please.

sadly as a Brit our tax systems are still very much functional. If when its written and published trad/or self, I will definitely be looking into writing off 'research' trips to several breweries.
