I'm a writer of words and music, my dog has a heart on his belly, and I am absolutely obsessed with frogs.
In the first draft, I let them wander. By the third or fourth draft, if the wandering isn't relevant to the plot, then I do a little pruning. I've had some characters really evolve by letting them do their thing. In the early stages, I think keeping that creative flow going is more important.
