🐝My videogame The Beekeeper's Picnic is now available!
I didn't have the capacity to zoom up to Harrogate this weekend and then exhibit at AdventureX next weekend, so I'm going to be feeling huge Thought Bubble FOMO this weekend! Have fun everyone! Say hello to the Turkish Baths for me! Buy lots of comics!

Time for some sophisticated drinks...

"So, tell me why you're interested in this job?"

I have tickets to the press night of this and I PROMISE that I'm going to enjoy the wonderful silliness of it...

...but if I'm allowed one little moment of pedantry...

New idea: I'm keeping a tracker of days I've worked on Game Stuff and days I haven't! Confusingly I'm doing crosses for days I have and 0s for days I haven't?!!

Today was just admin things (taxes, boooooo!) and getting ready for AdventureX, but I think it still counts.

Hear me out - as a fizzy drink fan I've got a fancy retro soda syphon. I've got an antique silver tray for it to live on. I've got cute little glasses.

Now all I need is a tantalus but instead of brandy, it's got coca cola syrup in it.

When I did my master's degree I kept a log/notebook of my thoughts and progress every day. Now I'm having a go at keeping a game dev log!

Every time I work on the game, I write what I've done, why, and what I hope to do next.

I think it solves three problems:

Time to reflect back on #ALTC25! I was very honoured to be selected for the conference committee this year, which meant I had a whirlwind time dashing around chairing lots of incredibly exciting sessions!

This is also why I expect the game I'm working on will look like this for a while.

It's subtle, but try to guess which objects are going to be important...

There's a viral 'tiny book' advent calendar I keep seeing ads for which I thought I'd attempt to recreate.
Might take a while to get to having 24 books, though...

(These are real books with the full texts made exactly like regular sized ones, but tiny!)

Made a sign to tap.

Hmm I should really get some promotional stickers for AdventureX, you know, something professional that really shows off the atmosphere and artwork...

Me, 20 minutes later, ordering 50 of these:

I bought it yesterday and I love it so there was no way I was going to let it go! (Also I don't like to litter the canal)

...going to give it a good wash though.
And my hands.

My new pretty fabric shopping bag blew into the canal, and I waited ten minutes for it to slowly float from one side to the other, and then managed to grab it with a big stick.
Success!

Sometimes you just want to find a secluded beautiful spot away from human beings to create *beautiful art*

I think my cat likes me!

I've been really struggling to visualise how many people have bought The Beekeeper's Picnic, so I thought I'd think of it in terms of what venues they could fill.

Apparently they'd completely fill the Royal Albert Hall, including the maximum number of promenaders standing up in the gallery!

Finished! This is definitely my favourite binding I've done, and the chunkiest! The typeset I created incorporates illustrations from a 1946 edition by William Sharp.

Cover painted! But now comes the scary moment of actually putting the book inside...
September 14, 2025 at 9:05 PM
I hope I can pull this off...

How it's going.

I'm wondering if I can do a bind of The Moonstone which is inspired by this Very Expensive edition
