Most of the negativity towards OSRS from the RS3 side I have experienced stems from people that had RS3 friends that moved over. Which is valid I guess.

Looks like the visuals have even regressed a bit since they have removed some textures from the cache (gradients on every floor and the lava creeping up the walls)

Those textures aren't even new, brimhaven agility arena has not been touched graphically literally since the launch of HD in 2008

Even without the articles being written as an outsider looking in it felt blatant. For the past years Jagex seemed to be on an upward trajectory in it's pride month celebrations and general endorsement of pride. Seeing radio silence after a seemingly bigger than ever scope event in 2024 was jarring.

People that carry hate on grounds of identity seemingly always find exceptions to the hate. Especially when they are confronted with the facts in hindsight.

Oh I did not mean to imply that the decision was made on the results of a single survey. It was really quite obvious to anyone following the project closely however that they were struggling to find solid financial grounds without having all of the big feature requests like world editing added in.

This feels like a decision that was made very recently. After runefest they ran another survey that asked questions along the lines of how much people would be willing to pay for hosting costs etc. My guess is that they just weren't convinced they could make this profitable on initial release.
