The UK's own projections on its productivity are the reverse of predictions about the efficacy of solar. How can it be the people projecting aren't learning? Something way systemic must be making these so bad.

The UK's own projections on its productivity are the reverse of predictions about the efficacy of solar. How can it be the people projecting aren't learning? Something way systemic must be making these so bad.

Did you see the Thiel article about end times? He thinks it's apocalypitc that he can't hide his money. In general, they want more agency than it's safe to let them have. They are burning down the tree their sitting on the branches sawing them off of.

I think they were already losing both the hegemony and the capacity to regulate companies of the scale they've allowed these to grow to, even before they started dismantling their state capacity.

I decided people might not know enough about briefcases anymore to understand briefcase terms, and now I have a slide with the Blues Brothers in it :-)

Ha ha – I always tell my students in my #AIconsciousness lecture that the only thing besides concepts not just "emerging" from skills we haven't yet achieved {in this ambitious @rodneyabrooks.bsky.social & LAS proposal to build a baby} is "hand linking", and that's because no one can afford fingers.
