Obviously travelling by train. Highlights were flocks of stork -migrating or staying?- and great white egret through the Black Forest 🚂

Also, the electric calls of native red-crested pochard in the harbour justified the whole trip.

I guess the implication of that is I see posts and research that appear in the feeds I follow (UKBirding, Ornithology, Science etc.) and miss anything published the old way. I also don't see much of anything I am not interested in.

Very difficult in isolation I think. Generally British birds are smaller and warmer toned. I think these weird records are probably Scottish given how few breed in England now.
I'm also not sure how regular flavirostris is here - only 7 ringed abroad recovered here, and only one inland.
