My films of the year. Top row I'd recommend universally. Second row more subjective. Each of those films did something brave. (Particularly The Apprentice, which isn't what you expect from the trailer. An important film right now).

If you haven't seen Conclave this weekend, get you to the cinema. Adapted by my screenwriting mentor Peter Straughan (of Wolf Hall fame), it has all the multi-layered complexity and cinematic beauty of art-house, combined with the twisty plot and sheer entertainment value of a mainstream thriller.

I'm struck by this detail in one of the Gregg Wallace allegations. The male colleague was probably clueless rather than actively enabling. But if he'd understood about predatory men, what would have been a good way to deal with this situation?
