I worry that if we focus on impeachment, we’ll be perceived as focusing on revenge. Better would be to focus on reforms that are seen as attacking both the left and the right. Anti corruption?

If we have another party line impeachment vote, even if we have the votes it will only hurt

I’ve never been involved with detecting and blocking troll farms, but my experience of scammers is that they pretty consistently use US residential VPNs. I am a bit curious what went on here, maybe there are just a lot of trolls who didn’t even bother because no one cared to even try to stop it?

Is people’s desire to label it as nihilism because this sort of anti liberalism coming from a place of deep pessimism? When I talk to people with this philosophy what I’m struck by is how un optimistic and scared of the future they are

I don't know which came first. The hate in the countries heart or the hate on TV, but Fox is obsessed with making its readers feel small and attacked and I worry for anyone, not least my relatives who consume it religiously

What is always interesting about this take to me is how it frames allowing apartments to be built as somehow taking agency away from people who want to live in the suburbs. Building more dense housing doesn’t mean people can’t buy houses in the sunset anymore

Political violence is sometimes very important, but its record overall is mixed. It’s a can of worms that when opened leads to violence replacing the rule of law and democracy. I think democracy isn’t quite dead yet so I’m not willing to endorse the kind of shuffling that normalized violence brings

Other than the subject matter what’s similar about them? Brutus was a real person so it’s not surprising that both these songs talk about him

It was a lot of fun (even if I still think the trans march is the superior event)

I just don’t understand where some of this even stops. Surely the court won’t say that religious people have right to exempt their kids from a book talking about interracial marriage, but right now it feels like yeah they totally would do that

I don’t even drink regularly and I kind of want to drink

This court is literally just like let’s destroy the school system, signal that lgbt bigotry is ok, and for a chaser block the court system from rapidly stopping Trump’s policies going forward like you know ending birthright citizenship

There have always been things I’ve been jealous of you for, having any amount of fame is not one of them

We live in strange times. Times when an entire news organization has been built on a foundation of bias. A time when the president is publicly threatening a former supporter for disagreeing. I think supporting that isn’t very objective especially for an account with freedom for all in their name

This is definitely one of the bigger issues in SF. We get leg season for a couple weeks out here

Minorities and the powerless also need more than a government of no. We need to build more housing so people are again able to find opportunities in cities. We need to build broadband in rural areas so people can connect to the modern economy. Because we’ve made all of this harder everyone gets less

I think this is a point that a lot of thinkers do take to heart. Regulation is important, but when we try to do everything with every policy we end up doing nothing

Would you say that 9 companies are responsible for 75% of reductions? www.solarbeglobal.com/top-pv-modul...? I’m not saying Americans are at fault, I’m saying solving the problem will require understanding the whole chain of energy users not just the companies paid to extract resources

I just hope the subtext here isn’t first the socialist revolution and then we can tackle global warming. I keep on coming back to TX building more solar than CA. That’s kind of insane if you think about it, but also means we can do a lot more with policy to help
January 10, 2025 at 6:12 PM
It’s not that we shouldn’t be angry with the super powerful and the ways they manipulate the system to keep power, but we need to have clear eyes, fixing wealth inequality in the US won’t fix the problems. We need to let solar be built, and we need to find ways for planes to be more sustainable
