Oh yeah that's absolutely an issue. I'm thinking more in terms of real life conversations and not social media.

To a lot of people the statemrnt "Grok creates CSAM" will read as a "tech headline" they bypass.

"Grok creates child porn" is a much more visceral statement that will grab someone's attention and THEN you can explain why we don't use that term anymore.

If Mangione somehow beats the charges (given the police fuckups it's possible if extremely unlikely) everything suggests he'll be some libertarian techbro in terms of personality.
January 11, 2026 at 3:34 PM
"I understand how he got to that point" not being the same as "I approve of his actions" wrt to Mangione is a point apparently too complex for the dizzying intellect of @chatterton.bsky.social

Now now, he's gonna need lawyers to review the contracts for his book deal and paid appearances on the conservative veneration circuit

That is a smell you never forget

In all that litigation you never learned how to use commas?

There's a "i prefer cocoa puffs" joke here.

Your solution to being informed you were trying to rehash the same discussion that's been had multiple times in the thread is to just...

"Re-rehash" the same discussion again? That's pretty pathetic.

A lot of these specifics are things that just won't come out unless and until it goes to trial.

But I don't think we actually have that initial statement (probably the audio from her call to the police). So I'm relying on what the attorney doing the breakdown says on that.
January 10, 2026 at 3:33 AM
Sure. It also sounds like she initially reported he WAS asleep and then after her arrest that became he "might have been asleep." At least from the breakdown video

That's after she initially went viral and it was flagged by people that whether he was asleep would be absolutely critical.

According to the USA Today article they determined he was passed out.

Exactly how that was done isn't said since it's a general press statement.

A lawyer did go and grab the statements from both her and the guy and has several videos breaking things down. (Links to a couple in next two posts)

No one but the police and defendant/defense counsel would have been able to see it yet.
January 10, 2026 at 2:59 AM
The police say they have it, but if its Ring footage it would have been subpoenaed from Amazon.

It wouldn't be public at this point in the case.
