Outside of basketball most people do not tuck in their shirts or sweater. Does this mean that untucking your jersey in sport is a non-tolerable deviance in sport but a tolerable deviance outside of sport?

It is crazy that this is an accepted behaviour in boxing, while other sports aren’t allowed to touch each-other. Mike Tyson definitely had overconformity during his several years in the ring, he has always been socially deviant.

In class we discussed deviance leisure and how what people do in their spare time may not always seem “normal” or “acceptable” to society. This lead to me think of Jeffery Dahmer, he was a serial killer who killed 17 men in 13 years. He describes this as a leisure activity www.cnn.com/2015/04/30/u...

I completely agree with this opinion as poker doesn’t have physical components to it. Although it may some some characteristics like a level of skill and competitive aspects, I still wouldn’t consider it a sport.

With a full time career I can see how physical activity may be harder to do. I hope to workout and go for walks and runs, maybe join a community league. I would love to become a coach someday. That way I stay connected to sports and get to pass on my knowledge to the next generation!
October 6, 2025 at 2:22 AM
I like that you’re talking about how it may be hard to find time for physical activity, as it is something that isn’t always talked about. I think coaching is a great way to stay involved and pass on the love of sports!

I believe sport is something that elevates your heart rate and requires you to use physical endurance and/or physical strength. It should also have a level of compete that requires effort and skill. I would consider card games a leisure activity as it doesn’t fit into all of these categories.
