The Pantanal Cowboys are a symbol of resistance against the advance of destruction against their environment and it’s traditional way of living. This image depicts cowboys herding horses into a corral, amid thick dust and smoke, to protect animals from forest fires that devastated this region.

The Pantanal is the world's largest tropical wetland. Due to the accelerated process of climate change,it has already lost 65% of its flooded area. It is undergoing a process of extinction of its fauna and flora, great droughts and consecutive forest fires are devastating this natural sanctuary

The Cerrado, a kind of Savana, is one of the five major biomes of Brazil, covering about 25% of the national territory. Most of this diverse ecosystem, the largest source of water sources in the country, has been turned into coal or monoculture plantations for the export of commodities.
