*taut strings. Strings about to snap are a good one.

Other favorites are "about to boil over," "avalanches waiting to fall"

Think of anything with a lot of potential energy held up and something that can overflow. There's a lot of standard cliches but you might find your own that fit your story

You could describe a forge or lighting tinder. You can also represent tension with taught strings

I think it's important to look at it through the lens of power. Culture is at play; so are politics. Power that tries to seize any avenue, it'll twist anything to keep itself aloft. It's power that tempts and indulges so thoroughly. The power for impunity, in particular.

I played through that game and I was so happy when PlayFrame picked it up. Their playthrough is great. I think that game is super important for our present day. It was all I could talk about for months after I played it

Light is a huge part of sleep regulation. If you don't have blackout curtains, consider using an eye mask, but curtains are most effective (skin reacts to light, hence the vitamin d).

Folks have different clocks but sleep consistency is important. Video below is helpful though it's focused on ADHD:

REM cycles are roughly 1.5 hours. Try 7.5 at least next time.

There will never be a label that can or even should show I'm a good person. That is a practice for every day.

To steady myself when the road jostles me. To accept when I've veered off course. And to adjust.

Accept that you can change and you'll always know you can change for the better. Always.

Whoever we are today. We don't need to be that way tomorrow.

I could be breaking my own principles today, but that is why I must pay attention to myself.

We should all learn the little ways our vehicle jostles and bends as it tries to drive straight. We all need a steady hand on the wheel

A single action, a single statement, or even a number of them. Maybe they're useful for predicting the momentum of a person. But anyone can make a different choice. No one will be exactly who they are today. We all change.

But will tomorrow's us change for the better or worse?

Any goodness that an organization, a peoples, a creed, or a label is the result of their actions. It takes actions to become the same in turn. Association with such things is at best, simply exposure.

Anyone can profess the right words. Likewise, the wrong words can tumble out of good intentions
August 3, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Folks can and have co-opted labels and groups throughout history. Maybe some groups have good will today. Maybe some have had them in the past. There will always be folks who care more for the power and clout. There will always be folks who care about justifying their actions over being principled.

It can also be a video recording tool too, to make clips. Super useful.

For clips the keyboard shortcut is 'Windows Key + Shift + R'

For snips (in case folks don't know} it's 'Windows Key + Shift + S' or just press the 'Prt Scr' button

Heh, this isn't the same kind of whisker, but it is a weird whisker. Metals under pressure and electromagnetism appear to grow hairs. I learned about this yesterday from xkcd

Parasect is Sovereign of Pokemon Quick Catching

Spore
False Swipe

Reasonable amounts of attack

It is, however, highly flammable. Keep away from open flames and wind gusts (flying attacks). It is also slow so can be hard to run from Pokemon unless it's really high level

Oh.. I just looked up the average time for people to read the Constitution and it's like 30 to 45 minutes instead. Guess, I'm actually a fast reader or I lost track of time (likely).

I promise, it is surprisingly quick, despite how consequential it is. I've spent longer on way more frivolous reads
June 12, 2025 at 1:33 AM
I've been saying over and over that the Constitution is a really short but consequential legal document and it takes 15-20 minutes to read, and I read slow. Putting the passages to context really shows what it's trying to do, it's not laws for laws sake. It's for a very specific purpose, as you say.

Not the folks see culture has always used natural selection to propagate, mutate, and maintain longevity.

Languages are a great case study for this, Languages speciate, they mutate, they propagate, etc

Games actually do this too. Card games are a great example, because of the standard 52-54 deck

I'd say for the specific things you brought up, that "trust" is key. We trust in experts and experts affirming experts.

Overall science, imo, is about models affirming data and testing those models with quality data. Models iterate until they can accurately predict outcome given certain input

If it's instead that you're weak to grass. Go with a steel type (Forretress, Scizor, Skarmory) or a poison type.

For grass offensively, then I'd recommend Tangrowth, the best things about Gen 4 are the physical special split, and Tangrowth can really take advantage of that.

Hope that helps!

With Pokemon total team comp matters most. If you're looking for grass, it could mean that you currently have a weakness to water, ground, or electric. Folks usually have prominent fire types that they want to cover. To cover fire, I recommend water/ground more,(Quagsire).

It wasn't just what she said, it was the expression on her face right after. You've captured it well.

I can't presume to read her mind but it certainly could be perceived as an expression of surprise about how clever her response was. No, it is deeply out of touch response for the concerns raised

It is a Pleurotus species, an oyster mushroom! I feel like Pleurotus citrinopileatus, aka the "Golden Oyster," is a very likely candidate.

Maybe a reframe helps: If someone has gone around speaking poorly of my friends, but treats me very nice, isn't it okay that I don't want to hang out with them? How they treat my friends doesn't impact the quality of their actions to me, right? Is it a problem if I don't want to hang with them?
May 19, 2025 at 6:59 PM
I'm just gonna say sometimes someone's actions make me unable to appreciate their work anymore because what they did clouds how I see it. Like I can appreciate the technicality, but isn't art also about what we connect to?
