Honestly at some point it goes from "honouring the dead" to outright necrophilia (I think the "we wanna mint federal coinage beating his face" reached that point definitely)

And that's ignoring the right radicalising (like it or not, Kirk was essentially a "moderate voice" in the right at this point, and the vacuum he leaves will only be filled by the Fuentes types) and the government using his death to stamp down on everything left of the center.

It looks iconic in ways that nothing before and since has, and tbh imo it looks interesting. Tacky is the stuff from the gilded age and the depression imo.

That rocks, what are you talking about? I hate that the 1950s is considered the American Golden Age mainly because most people didn't have access to this stuff (or, you know, in-door plumbing) oof

I don't think that's the actual attitude, in large part because they doubt the Democrats are going to take Musk back (and, in all fairness, part of the Democratic base absolutely wouldn't let them take him back if they could).

Trump is apparently mostly ignoring Musk until he calms down (I don't know what the deal with Trump's truth social thing is so idk if he's blowing up there or not, but I've not seen any screenshots showing him blowing up there either idk)

People not actually knowing how large numbers are exhibit one million. You'd need to read 209 pages per hour every hour of the day to even attempt that.

Like yeah he was basically the same domestic policy wise (right wing economically, conservative if not outright reactionary socially, et al) and hell he even had a less acute case of his isolationism too, but this is like. Absurd. Cartoonishly so.

Honestly I doubt it. I like the "actually liberal wine moms were right in everything" skit as much as the next guy, but the trump of 2016, 2020, and even early 2024 did not seem like this wrt foreign policy, *especially* wrt Russia. Personally I blame Junior, Tucker Carlson and Musk.
March 4, 2025 at 8:12 PM
He wasn't *this* horrible wrt Russia in 2016-20 (imo he was just weak towards them in foreign policy in a way you might as well consider a minor escalation of Obama giving up Crimea). But at this point he might as be Putin's agent in the white house holy shit
