I had decided that I wouldn’t be in the pictures with Vegas. I’d brought a nice sweater, but decided that generally I am just too much un photogenic. I am SO GLAD the photographer ignored that and got these. Vegas is my ❤️ horse, and it shows here.

I didn’t realize how tense I had been until after that first ride on the Belgian. You can’t fret when you ride. You have to be present in the moment. Horses feel all your emotions and energy and give it back to you. I’m so lucky to be able to do this.

This is Billy the Belgian with Barbie the pony. Billy is an opinionated tank with a lovely trot and super smooth canter. (Yes, I got a canter from the tank. We also managed a couple of very small jumps. We were both impressed. My legs are now jello.)

In the last 3 months we will have lost my son’s bunny, my dog, and probably tonight or latest tomorrow, my daughter’s cat. I knew that they wouldn’t long outlive each other, but I didn’t think it would be so tightly coupled.
