I’m not a doctor. I don’t even play one on tv.
Wow. Not you Joan, but the other person doesn’t like to be told they’re wrong. So I get blocked. 🤣😆🤣

Alrighty. Have a blessed day. 👍🏼

And no, the two examples I mentioned are not the only examples. But the others are so infrequent, out of the millions of people on Medicare it probably applies to less than 100 people annually, so I left them out.

Plug your examples into the Medicare.gov link I’ve provided and see if you’re right. I know you’re not. But feel free to see for yourself. That is, unless I’ve misunderstood your example, which is certainly possible.

This post I agree with. The overall process is very confusing.

Yes, a new enrollee in Medicare Part B can get on a Medigap plan within the first 6 months of enrolling into Part B.

But after that, you literally cannot get into a Medigap plan unless you fall into very specific examples: plan elimination or moving out of area.

Both teams likely weren’t making the final four anyway (can I use that term for the CFP Playoffs). So 🤷🏻‍♂️
December 8, 2024 at 6:08 PM
In any other state, the beneficiary would have to move out of the area of coverage of their current MA plan, or their MA plan would have to be discontinued by the carrier. If one of these 2 things happen, they have 63 days to enroll into a Medigap plan. Refer to the link in my prev post. (2/2)
December 8, 2024 at 4:58 PM
This isn’t correct. Anyone cannot join a Medigap plan without underwriting if they leave a MA plan. In CT, NY & Mass you can enroll into a Medigap at anytime. (1/2)

I’m not following at all. Can you restate this comment with types of plans and dates? I think I have an idea what you’re trying to say, but…🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s exactly my point of a gap in Medicare. 👍🏼

And the $1632 deductible is not an annual deductible. After 90 days it re-sets.

So what did I say that wasn’t factually correct?
December 6, 2024 at 9:37 PM
The gaps listed on Medicare.gov

1) Hospital non-annual deductible of $1632 (Part A)
2) Hospital copay at 61 days+; $408/day
3) Medical annual deductible of $240 (Part B)
4) Medical copay 20% (Part B)
There are 2 others, but they are much less frequently experienced by a Medicare beneficiary.

Respectfully, I’m struggling to see the connection.

I’m not wrong about the gaps in Medicare, so not sure about your false flag.

No, I have two parents that have been in a Medicare advantage plan for over 15 years and have had not one complaint.
December 6, 2024 at 4:30 PM
Not everyone can afford to pay retail prices for their prescription drugs. The people that fall between Medicaid and the average income, I believe is the target market for Medicare advantage. It is not for everyone.
December 6, 2024 at 4:29 PM
The point is, that Medicare advantage is a good option for some people. Clearly, you are not one of those people. The average person cannot afford a $1600 deductible going to the hospital. I don’t disagree with you that the part C plans don’t have problems, they do.
December 6, 2024 at 4:27 PM
There are millions of happy people on advantage plans. There are some bad stories about preauthorizations too. But I personally had a preauth bad story too on my employer health insurance plan. It’s not just advantage plans.
December 6, 2024 at 3:44 PM
You need a part D plan as Original Medicare does not cover prescription drugs.

So you either have a part D plan or you buy all your drugs at retail cost. Good luck with that.

There’s always costplusdrugs.com

Medicare Advantage plans cover prescription drugs too.

This is true, but what people don’t know, is that there are a lot of gaps in original Medicare. You pay 20% of all Dr visits after a $240 deductible. Hospital deductible is $1623 and renews every 90 days, meaning you may pay this more than once time each year.

Medigap plans are super expensive.
December 6, 2024 at 3:32 PM
This isn’t true. Anyone can go back to Original Medicare (from 10/15 to 12/7 annually) without any approvals. What you can’t do is enroll into a Medigap plan (which covers against the gaps in Medicare) w/o underwriting (there are some exceptions tho) after being in a Medicare Advantage plan.
