Looks like an interesting book and one that has lessons for today. And it seems that conclusions have to be repeated over and over again.

Same response in San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. Newspapers and politicians exaggerated stories of violence; the Army was sent with instructions to kill looters. The response to Katrina was clearly racist but also shows how little regard people in power have for "commoners."
