Why has the BBC’s director general resigned and what could happen next?
The BBC must now recruit two high-level executives, just as it should be readying for its 2027 royal charter renewal.

Really enjoyed being "in conversation with Caroline Wyatt" about my book at the Frontline Club on Monday. "BBC Women Reporting the World". The books sold out and it was standing room only at the back. A very enjoyable conversation thereafter with the knowledgeable audience. Here are a few pics

As Trump succeeds in stopping federal funds for @PBS and @NPR , will this bring about local TV closures, and bigger news deserts? Why does this matter? My article in today’s @ConversationUK @DCU theconversation.com/trumps-budge...
Trump’s budget cuts could shut down local news outlets and reduce reporting on emergencies
Public broadcasting regularly sends out alerts related to extreme weather and emergency news – but Trump has had these media outlets in his sights for a while.

The one consistent organising principle of this Trump presidency is its relentless support for fossil fuels. For journalists, this means that without proper energy literacy they can no longer cover politics. Reading general news coverage that is energy-illiterate has become almost useless.
