Is there a common thread? Is theŕe a product that's a powerful insecticide that just hasn't been identified? A fungicide? Crop growth regulator? Herbicide? Dog tick treatment? There has to be a cause. A time series country by country analysis of chem sales and insect populations would be a start

What I've seen over 70 yrs a a huge drop in flying insects. Big increases in buzzards, kites & woodpigeons Decline in kestrels & owls. Increases in foxes, badgers and massive increase in deer. Reduced pasture land. I don't know the causes. Is this Europe wide?

I was a boarder at Burford school in late 1960's. It was lovely then. No traffic lights on the bridge. No parking issues even though there wasn't a car park. Local shops serving local needs. Inc fresh baked real bread.

If a thing can go wrong, it will, is the fundamental rationale behind "fail safe" designs. Power supply always has the chance of failure. So if power fails, doors should unlock etc.
