With no replacement ferries available and it being so close to the end of the season anyway, the ferry service just shut down.

So that's how one of only two road connections to Prince Edward Island has been cut off for half a year, because a private company can't get its shit together.

Then, in September, MV Confederation sailed into the wharf at Wood Islands, damaging its bow visor and ramp mechanism, and had to be taken out of service for repairs.

Shortly after that, a second engine failed on MV Saaremaa and it also had to be taken out of service.

MV Holiday Island was already due to be replaced, but its replacement isn't expected to be delivered until 2028, so NFL borrowed MV Saaremaa from Quebec.

One of Saaremaa's four main engines broke down this past summer, but it continued operating on the other three engines.

Okay, no misinformation on this platform. Northumberland Ferries Ltd. (NFL), the private entity that operates the essential service (fuck P3s), had two ferries on this route: MV Holiday Island and MV Confederation. Holiday Island caught fire during a crossing in 2022 and had to be scrapped.

My local libraries also lend bicycle repair toolkits, thanks to a nonprofit I work with. We're also working on learn-to-ride programs and trying to get children's push bikes into the libraries.
