![My response to bluesky's feedback form on their latest community guidelines update: "Much of what is outlined is done so vaguely enough that it could be very easily mis-applied, where any definition could be reasonably stretched to cover essentially anything. It is incredibly dangerous to artistic liberty of all kinds to lay down rules like these.
An example: [A.i.b]. Depictions of sexual assault - does this mean nobody can mention the show Sons of Anarchy? The film Super? The Sopranos, History of Violence, Scum, almost any film in or featuring prison made in the last forty years.
Warnings and tags are what we need, not prohibition with easily-manipulated rules that are frankly brazenly *written* to be abused later. Humans have always, WILL always make up stories about bad, naughty, wrong, scary, thrilling, immoral things happening. Watching a film like Hostel that is nothing but torture, gore, pain, misery, terror — and all for entertainment, remember — is more perverse in my opinion than most of the porn I've seen online, but you will never catch me calling the government to put a stop to it. I just don't go and see that movie. That's why films have ratings.
Bluesky is a public forum. Parents should be advised and educated, publicly and en masse, on keeping their children OFF sites like this. This was my last spotify wrapped (look I like what I like ok) and now its all gone. Between the face scan bullshit and all their support for AI, nah chief. Started my bandcamp collection, dusted off the old CDs, its back to owning music again
