I call my mother’s cousin my great aunt because she’s a lot older than my mom and because she is close to our family and she has aunt vibes. I’m white. I also call my parents’ very good friends aunt & uncle and always have. This “misunderstanding” isn’t even cultural, it’s purposeful stupidity
