He found Akechi on the other side of the room looking at the different sets of glow-in-the-dark star stickers available to purchase and smiled to himself. Akira always thought Akechi was forced to grow up entirely too soon. Hell, he had too. The difference was Akira acknowledged it and when he was given opportunities to act like the kid he was, he took them. Akechi on the other hand, rarely had, as if to prove to himself he was the adult the world had forced him to become at such a young age. It broke Akira's heart whenever he thought about it. "Which ones are you getting?" he asked Akechi as he gestured to the sticker display. The man in question gave Akira a long look before turning back to the shelves. "I'm not. I was just surprised by how many different sets they have here." Akechi replied as he started to walk down the rest of the aisle. "Why not? Didn't you say you wanted some as a kid?" "As a child, yes. Which I'm not anymore. Besides, I only sleep well in complete darkness. Their glowwould disrupt me." Akira thought about mentioning how he'd been sleeping just fine last week in his room despite the glow-in-the-dark stars and the fact Akira even leaves his blinds open a little to let moonlight in but he knew it'd ultimately be pointless. If Akechi had any say in the matter, he'd never allow himself to have the stars. But Akira wanted to give him the sun, the moon, and every star in the night sky. He'd start with a few packs of these stickers though

"Well, your escape attempts were starting to look pathetic and other people saw me arrive with you so I didn't have much of a choice. I do have a reputation to uphold" he said airily. "Except you don't." Akira replied cheerfully. Akechi glared. "If it makes you feel any better, you'll always be a prince to me," he added with a wink. "It doesn't." Akechi said flatly. "Weren't you just saying he wasn't serious about you nowadays?" "Maybe it's more that I don't take him seriously?" "Even despite having Ann's blessing?" he asked, mocking evident. The two took up a standing spot by several art displays, they were rather gaudy in Akechi's opinion, not that he was paying much attention to anything that wasn't man next to him. "The bar for that gets lower each year I'm single," Akira replied with an amused huff. Akechi mentally weighed the pros and cons of murdering Ann. They weren't working out in her favor. "Mishima's sort of had me on a pedestal since the whole Kamoshida thing. I don't think he's ever seen me as just Akira. It'd be weird, you know?" Akira admitted after a minute. I'd imagine it'd be equivalent to dating a fan of the Detective Prince" Akechi agreed. "Exactly" Akira said. "Wait, should I stop being a fan of yours then?" "Only if you wanted to date me" Akechi replied with all the casual indifference he could muster. Which wasn't much if he was being honest. Akira turned to face a sculpture on display. "Have I not made that obvious?" he asked, face unreadable from this angle. Torn between naive hope and anger at being toyed with, Akechi leaned into what did knew best, deflection. "Did you always make this many jokes or was there a learning curve when you took up the name Joker?" If he didn't know any better he would call the small smile Akira turned to give him almost wistful.

They continued their conversation as Morgana kept quietly observing. Hed been expecting Akira to lie and downplay the situation and Morgana was prepared to call him out for it. But he didn't. When he really thought about it, it wasn't surprising that Akechi was the person Akira would finally confide in. Even before Akira realized it, Morgana could sense there was something more between the two. In the beginning he wasn't well-versed enough in human relationships to attribute it to anything other than the rivalry they were so proud of having. But by the time they were in Maruki's reality, Akira's feelings were more than obvious. Akechi was such an asshole all the time Morgana assumed they were completely unrequited though. Now? If there was anything Morgana has learned from the hundreds of hours worth of anime Futaba has made him sit through, it's how to recognize a tsundere. Although, lately, he doesn't think Akechi has been trying very hard to hide how smitten he is with Akira anyway.

Tell me what you need." Akira's hips bucked again. He tried bringing his own hand to his erection but Akechi grabbed it with a "tsk" and pinned it above his head. "I have all night 'Kira" he breathed into Akira's ear before biting a spot on his collarbone. He alternated biting, sucking, and kissing a trail down Akira's chest before the man finally relented. "I need you to touch me" he pleaded, voice shaky. "Please, Goro" he adds as a whimper. "There that wasn't so hard, was it?" Akechi purrs, pulling Akira's boxers down and taking hold of his cock. "I find it hard to believe someone whose ideal weapon was a laser sword ever had any interest in science fiction." Akira said sarcastically as he continued flipping through the different constellations on the screen. “Yes, well, we can't all be naturally creative enough to pick a dagger out of all the possible weapons one could have chosen." He replied dryly. Akira stared at him for a moment, seemingly dumbfounded before giving a slow blink as he processed the implications of what Akechi had just said. "I could have had the master sword.." Akira finally said, voice coming out in a whisper. "Oh my god. My gun could have turned the shadows into sheep! Akechi, we missed so many opportunities!" he added in pure dismay as he buried his face in his hands. “Truly devastating." Akechi lamented in a mocking tone. Though he had to admit he regretted not experimenting with how unconventional weapons in the Metaverse could have gotten. By the time the pair of them finished the exhibit Akechi was pretty sure Akira had listed every unique weapon ever used in a video game and was now just making shit up. A gun that shot fish guts at people? Yeah right.

When he and Akechi talked about the world altering choices Akira's had to make, Akechi begrudgingly expressed how as much as he believes Akira needs to put himself first far more often, his self-sacrificing tendencies worked out for the best in those situations. He was glad he could rely on Akira making the best decision for everyone. What Akechi didn't know was how close Akira had come to damning the world for him and him alone. If he hadn't begged to be let go, Akira would have let the world burn a thousand times over if it meant keeping him in it. Martyrdom and morality didn't always go hand in hand. To betray the world for the man he loved would have been an easy choice. He'd have suffocated under the guilt of it if it meant Akechi could breathe.
