Picasso drew the same bull 11 times before he got it 'right.'

Between 1945-46, he started with realistic, detailed drawings and ended with just a few simple strokes. Each drawing necessary to reach the next.

You can't shortcut your way to simplicity. You have to earn it.

I constantly use dictation with ChatGPT, so I prototyped a voice-driven workflow triggered by a Task that guides a daily standup routine using a custom GPT and Notion.

People underestimate two things about working with AI:

1. The amount of iteration required to get what you're looking for
2. The speed of iteration that's possible

Dozens of iterations in just a few minutes with @midjourney.

Other important callouts:

Any non-SWE won't be able to validate that the generated scripts actually do what they described upfront.

They'll also struggle to debug, even with AI assistance because they won't know how to describe the problem or potential solutions.

Prompt 2 adds on even more SWE knowledge:

- Fetching files from a URL
- Variables
- String interpolation
- For loop
- Regex
- Parallel processing
- Error handling
- API usage example

Again, no way you're writing this without SWE training.

Prompt 1 contains a lot of basics:

- Python as language of choice
- Launching a server
- Creating a HTML form
- Submitting an API request
- Formatting the API response
- Saving & executing the code from the API response

If you don't have SWE training, you're not writing this.

Don't dismiss software engineering just yet.

The OpenAI o3 demo packs in A LOT of knowledge that only a person with SWE training would have.

Let’s dissect each prompt, shall we?

Newsletters aren't a very visual medium, but I've tried hard to make mine feel distinct.

Even when I'm wearing my writer hat, the designer in me keeps going strong.
